BODY CLUB - 2ND GRADE (go back)
Music, props and movement make joining the Body Club an active adventure.
Student become members by learning about health. An anatomy apron with stick
on organs helps teach students where a liver goes and what an intestine
does. The 3-D food pyramid makes nutrition a hands on experience. Club
members are also encouraged to use good hygiene and get plenty of sleep.
Students are invited to become a member of an exclusive club for second
graders, the Body Club. The goals of this program are to teach good health
habits, explain the functions of the major body organs, and encourage
children to become physically active. Body Club members learn the following
elements:
• The importance of proper rest, exercise, and
nutrition are discussed;
• Students are encouraged to select
healthy foods from a food board;
• An anatomy apron, slide show
presentation and sing-along teach the location of each organ;
• A
video teaches a required Body Club lesson on cleanliness: and
•
Students are welcomed as official members and receive Body Club stickers.
