INCREDIBLE MACHINE - 5TH – 6TH Grade (go back)

The body's organs and systems make up one incredible machine. Students will learn about all the moving parts including; the cardiopulmonary, nervous and reproductive systems. We'll teach them to keep their machines in tune with healthy heart care, good diet, exercise, and by not using drugs and tobacco.

In this program, students learn how to take care of their awesome body machine. This mechanics class will cover the following:

•  review cells and body systems, discuss heart care, and teach about healthy lifestyles;
•  students use an oscilloscope to see and hear their heart rate;
•  students visit the Brain Room to learn how the brain processes information.
•  Valeda, the transparent talking mannequin, explains the body organs and their functions. (Upon request, Valeda can also cover the reproductive system.)
