The miracle of life and the functions of the reproductive anatomy are important topics for pre-adolescents nearing puberty. As physical and developmental changes occur, they need to be equipped with the facts about their reproductive organs and the creation of human life.

LINDA - Puberty Education for Girls - 5th - 6th Grade (full details) (85 minutes)
The Linda program is a unique opportunity for a pre-adolescent “girls only” experience talking about puberty. The setting makes girls comfortable to ask questions about sensitive topics as our educators help to prepare them for the onset of puberty. The program recognizes the significance of physical changes and encourages girls to maintain a healthy body image.

MICHAEL - Puberty Education for Boys - 5th - 6th Grades (full details) (85 minutes)
The Michael Program allows pre-adolescent boys to learn about changes they will experience during puberty. The “boys-only” format encourages open discussion about both male and female reproductive anatomy without embarrassment. Showing respect for others and self-esteem are important in preparing boys for puberty.

 

LIFE BEGINS ADVANCED - 6th Grade (full details) (85 minutes)
Life Begins Advanced helps students entering adolescence understand the changes they will experience in puberty as a natural part of everyone's life. We cover the fundamentals of male and female reproductive anatomy, physical changes that come with puberty, and the development of a fetus from conception to birth.

AIDS: ALLEVIATING FEARS - 5th - 6th Grades (full details) (85 minutes)
AIDS remains a deadly epidemic for men, women and children. As many as 1.1 Americans are infected, with one quarter of them unaware of their infection. We introduce students to the facts about AIDS and how HIV/AIDS is, and is not, spread. We look at the relationship between good health practices and disease prevention and emphasize safe behaviors by contrasting them with high risk ones.

 

TEEN SEXUAL HEALTH – 8th Grade (full details) (85 minutes)
Adolescents must be prepared to make good decisions about their sexual health.  We give them the facts about the male and female reproductive systems and debunk common misinformation about pregnancy. We cover the risks and consequences of teenage sexual activity, including unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Class materials stress abstinence and making responsible choices.

STRAIGHT TALK ABOUT SEX – PARENTS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS  (60 minutes)
Our Straight Talk About Sex program provides parents with the tools to have effective, meaningful conversations with their preteen or teen about sex. Parents will learn the importance of talking to their teen about sex and about their relationships and tools for effective communication, especially when discussing relationships and sexual activity, and the feelings and attitudes teens have regarding these topics. Parents will gain knowledge of STDs, contraceptives, and teen pregnancy and learn to help their teen develop refusal skills.
